Sorry for going OT, but in one of my stories, I have a student being invited to the Headmistress' office for tea, and I wanted to be sure I had it right. Thanks for indulging my curiosity.Lyn F.https://www.blogger.com/profile/11599157003667744273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7542252561361322579.post-67634541920217638312008-11-13T21:17:00.000-05:002008-11-13T21:17:00.000-05:00Lyn,English tea is usually served at 4pm. Instead delicate white bread sandwiches (with crusts removed) are served (egg and cress, cucumber and salmon, fishpaste, etc.). These are then followed by a slice of light sponge cake, usually Victoria Sponge or in recent times a fresh cream cake, usually a vanilla slice (another English delicacy I miss), with copious cups (not mugs) of tea.NorfolkBoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06492584020846303209noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7542252561361322579.post-55968703595463394122008-11-13T17:02:00.000-05:002008-11-13T17:02:00.000-05:00I enjoyed this post, Mick. I guess we really are divided by a common language!Maggiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03310167742699434598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7542252561361322579.post-37837580302504241792008-11-13T16:01:00.000-05:002008-11-13T16:01:00.000-05:00Just out of curiosity. If you invite someone over for afternoon tea, what time would you expect that person to be there?

And I assume one would generally service biscuits with tea? Or some other sweets?Lyn F.https://www.blogger.com/profile/11599157003667744273noreply@blogger.com
